Guidelines

UK WebCam Ring

Inevitably when linking multiple sites together in a Web Ring means we'll need to have some guidelines to keep the ring consistent and navigable.

Firstly, you must be a UK Web Cam operator, and have the image on your web site accessible to the general public without requiring a password, or other restrictions.
Secondly, here is the HTML code you must paste into your page in order to become a member of the Ring. After you've joined the ring you will be sent a confirmation that you've arrived in the queue (for me to join you up) :

Using the code above :

You must customise the code for YOURNAME, YOURID and YOUREMAIL.
Please customise the code to bring the image file of the Ring local to your site. It will improve the download speed for people viewing the site, and will not affect how the logo looks. The images are as shown below (right click to save file locally).
You may customise the code to change the size, positioning or formatted appearance of the logo and links, but the logo and links must be navigable and recognisable to the average surfer.
Please have the WebCam logo on the same HTML page as the WebCam itself. However, although we would advise against it, if your WebCam page does not lend itself to having the Ring Logo on it, then we will accept having the logo a single link away from the actual WebCam image (but no more). In this way, people navigating the ring only need to use the BACK button on their browser once to get back to the Ring Navigation.

Two choices for displaying the LOGO

ring.gif (21701 bytes)ringuk.gif (5383 bytes)

As you can probably see, the first is an animated GIF (21K) which is 160x83 in size. The second is a fixed GIF image (5K) and of the same dimensions. If you want the page to load quicker, use the fixed image. If you aren't worried about the extra few seconds to load the animated GIF, use the first.

We like the first better, also! Please try to avoid scaling the image too much as this will affect the quality of the GIF.
